meet me at our intersection

when you're done laying your cobblestones
look back over your work
the undulating S curves that tie sunsets and moonrises,
first breaths and final sighs
together in a perfect ribbon

when you're done walking
look forward to the places that haven't found you yet
secret coves and warrens
pregnant with starfish and butterflies
a mosaic of question and exclamation marks

when you're done contemplating science's hows and spirit's whys in the libraries and canyons sprouted like gleaming reststops along your thoroughfare

meet me at our intersection
you can rest there or keep walking
for i've collected your lifetime's footsteps
thrown handfuls into the sky as stars
and the rest along a thousand paths you looked through o'er the years

now, and now, and now
your byways become my Be-Ways
as you knock and enter
the Home you never left
