For the Moment

For a moment today I was truly with you
As the words bounced off the windshield
And settled like a sigh into the passenger seat,
Thundering rivulets sealing us into
The perfect present moment

For a moment tonight I recognized the starlight’s sacrifice
As tiny sparkling mites and motes tumbled from the sky
Over the balcony
And into the moonwashed living room

For the moment now
I breathe without borders
Thank without conditions
Sleep without caveats

And Am.
