2023

2023 was a patient teacher.

she watched me carpet forest paths with question marks and coritsol when the rains dried up and embers took homes and we were all forced to kneel in the face of collective unforced errors;

she listened to endless choruses of my mental chatter, full of 'shoulds' and 'ought-to-be's' and 'all-it-would-takes' as new warzones appeared across the globe;

but most importantly she waited until I had spent myself before dropping me at the intersection of Grace and intention.

the Yield sign that greeted me there was not a barrier to forward movement, but an invitation to fall in behind something greater than myself, and when I did:

curiousity trumped judgement, gratitude uprooted fear and context painted the black-and-whites of my perspective with compassion and humility.

now, as the spiritual trade winds current us forward to another year, my prayer is simple:

may we all celebrate family, friends, and circumstances relentlessly in 2024, resolving to yield our resistance to complete acceptance of what Is.
